How to Play Astro Diner

Last updated: 6 September 2026

Follow one ticket from the customer lane to the serving deck. This walkthrough covers your first shift, repeated ingredients, correcting a plate, and choosing what to do after the result screen. Open each section for its instructions.

What Astro Diner is

Serve alien customers before their patience runs out. The released campaign contains Neon Market and Magma Core. Other world themes shown in the menu are marked Coming Soon; earning more stars does not make unreleased worlds playable.

No account is required. Progress and settings use local browser storage. Before changing browsers or clearing site data, use the in-game Save tools to download a progress export.

Goal of the game

Complete waiting orders to earn shift money. Watch the timer, hearts, and star pace. A customer who leaves costs a life. The shift ends when time expires or lives run out; the result screen reports the outcome and earned stars.

Stars describe results, not a promise of access to every theme in the menu. See scoring and stars for the thresholds and worlds for the current release boundary.

Your first shift, step by step
  1. Choose Play Astro Diner on the homepage. Follow the first-shift training prompts, or use Skip tutorial if you prefer to explore. If Enter service appears, use it to continue.
  2. Choose Neon Market. After loading, dismiss the Now serving introduction when it appears to start service.
  3. Read one waiting ticket from left to right. You do not need to click the customer. Check the ingredient names as well as their pictures.
  4. Tap or click each ingredient in that order. Add it again whenever the ticket repeats it. Watch the preparation deck fill.
  5. When Serve Order becomes available, press it. A matched plate does not score until you serve it. The served ticket leaves and the deck clears.
  6. Read the next waiting ticket. Continue until the timer ends or lives run out, then use the result screen to choose your next step.

Start with a short ticket that still has time left. A longer recipe does not by itself guarantee a larger payout: customer type and serving bonuses also matter.

How serving works

The whole sequence must match a waiting ticket, including its length and repeated ingredients. If the ticket shows the same ingredient twice, add it twice. You cannot leave out a duplicate or rearrange the sequence. If two waiting customers have the same order, serving uses the first matching ticket in the lane.

A separate shift shows why repeated ingredients matter: Volt Slime appears twice. The plate is ready, but still needs Serve Order. Captured from the local build on 6 September 2026.

For an unfinished plate that remains on the deck, Undo removes its last ingredient and Clear empties it. The keyboard equivalents are lowercase z for Undo and lowercase c or Backspace for Clear.

In Neon Market, a wrong ingredient stays on the plate. Use Undo to remove it while keeping earlier ingredients. The mistake still resets your combo and reduces hype. Other worlds may clear invalid plates automatically. Undo cannot restore a lost combo.

How alien customers behave

Each customer card shows an order and a patience meter. Patience falls while the shift runs. Check the meter before beginning a plate: a customer may leave before you finish. Customer types have different patience and base rewards, while the ticket tells you the ingredients to build.

Press Escape or the pause icon when you need to stop. Recipe help also pauses customers and the timer. Hold R to read and release to close, then select Resume service. The alien codex explains customer types.

Stars, rewards, and upgrades

The result screen shows earnings, earned stars, service grade, and notes on what helped or hurt. Let the reveal finish or choose Skip to see the rest. Menu returns to world selection; the other action follows the recommendation shown on that result.

Retry if you want to improve the same shift. For frequent walkouts, compare patience upgrades in the upgrade guide. For wrong builds, practice exact ticket sequences first; more seats do not fix an incorrect plate. Check the world guide before choosing another released world.

Quick checks before your next shift

Use the result to pick one thing to improve:

  • Wrong builds: read the full sequence before the first tap.
  • Missing ingredients: count repeated items and compare the deck with the ticket.
  • Walkouts: check patience before starting a long order.
  • Lost time: use the controls reference to learn Undo, Clear, and pause.

Choose CHILL in Settings if you want a longer shift with less patience pressure. Difficulty also changes other run conditions, so compare your results under the same setting.
